HeartCode ACLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s ACLS Course. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session.

HeartCode ACLS is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. To enter the course, students must complete a precourse self-assessment. Students will then be presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 In-hospital patient cases, including a BLS case and 2 megacode cases. The cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students will take a multiple choice exam and must pass with a minimum score of 84%.

HeartCode® PALS is an online comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

To enter the course, students must complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment. Students are then presented with 12 In-hospital patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. Cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%.

Students who successfully complete the online portion of the course receive a certificate granting them access to a PALS Hands-on Session with an AHA PALS Instructor. Students must successfully complete both the online portion and the hands-on session to receive a PALS Provider course completion card (print or eCard).

The BLS Provider course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier-device, a bag-mask device), use of an AED on adults and children, and relief of FBAO in responsive and nonresponsive victims. Written and skills evaluation are required for course completion. The Current BLS textbook IS NOT INCLUDED in the cost. Participants must purchase the book prior to the class or at the door which will cost $15.00.

Please note this class is designed for persons studying (including internships), entering OR working in the HEALTHCARE industries or workplaces (hospitals, clinics, surgery centers, medical or dental offices). It is NOT a course for the NON-Healthcare provider. If there are any questions or concerns, please call our office and ask to speak to the Manager.  Course Content:

  • Describe the importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
  • Describe all of the steps of the Chain of Survival and apply the BLS concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize the signs of someone needing CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children and infants
  • Describe the importance of early use of an AED and demonstrate its use
  • Provide effective ventilations by using a barrier device
  • Describe the importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and perform as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Describe the technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

The American Heart Association requires students to have the textbook for this course. If you already own one, please bring it with you to the course. If you do not own one, we will have the textbooks available for purchase.

HeartCode BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.


After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. Where available, students may also complete the hands-on session with a voice-assisted manikin (VAM).

HeartCode BLS is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS Course.

 

This session is for the student who had obtained completed the Online Heartcode BLS Provider Course and who did not already purchase their keycode and skills session through this office.  If you purchased the Online Course through this office, your skills evaluation session is included in the total fee of $75. 

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. 

This is the new American Heart Association course taught with the 2015 guidelines. 
 
The Heartsaver CPR, First Aid and AED Course includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA, all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.
 
The course teaches basic first Aid, CPR, and AED skills such as:
• Helping someone with a possible broken bone or sprain
• Giving CPR to an infant, child, or an adult
• Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR and AED course is a credentialed course specially designed to train those responsible for children's health in meeting state-specific requirements. This course is backed by comprehensive state-by-state research, and is formatted to allow instructors to customize it to include all topics required. Course modules cover CPR, AED, first-aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, environmental emergencies, and optional topics. This cours is an EMSA approved course.

First Aid, CPR and AED Online Course Heartsaver – The online course is designed for windows. It will work on Mac only with the Firefox Browser. If you don’t have Firefox you must download it to open your online course on a Mac.

Nearly 80 percent of cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital. And in recent years, OSHA reports that approximately 4 million workplace injuries and illnesses occurred annually. Busy healthcare providers often need an alternative to traditional, classroom-based ACLS / BLS training.
